Mike garrett

Class of 1957 Graduate of USC All-American in football Heisman Trophy Winner Former Athletic Director USC. “I can tell you that the lessons learned during my time with the Pups helped in providing a strong foundation for my future endeavors. Now to nurture 14 to 17 year olds is no easy task I assure you, as I have had the experience of having worked with young people for the better part of my professional career. Devil Pups have been able to cull the knowledge of its members, incorporate the discipline of the Marines, to create a program of excellence for the youth of today.”

Class of 1958 US Congressman (Ret) State of California Devil Pups Advisory Board. “As a 1958 graduate, I am very familiar with the program and the importance it has to the development of teen-age boys and girls. It’s an experience they will never forget. The lessons they learn will last them a lifetime.”

Elton Gallegly

kevin tighe

Class of 1959 Actor / Director. “I was a troubled kid when I reported to Camp Pendleton. Those troubles seemed to vanish with my haircut and I began to understand the virtues of work as a reward in itself… Without my participation in the Devil Pup program, I would have never been in the same place that I find myself today.”

Class of 1963 Motion Picture and Television Star, Actor, Producer and Director “There’s something that I wish more young people understood about respect — that it has to be earned….they certainly get it from a program like Devil Pups. You just don’t get [respect]; it’s not a civil right. Devil Pups occurred during an interesting time in my life for a young kid. I learned to do things beyond myself.”

Col. Brendan Kearney

Class of 1969 The first Devil Pup to reach the rank of Colonel in the USMC 31 year veteran Devil Pups Advisory Board “Devil Pups in 1969 was a life-changing awakening for me. That period of time allowed me to see – for the first time – the tremendous talents of my peers, as we were all required to assume leadership responsibilities along with learning to be good “followers” when required. This challenge was far beyond what athletic team experience had been, as it encompassed virtually every waking hour in those long hot days. Little did I know that this brief exposure to the Marine Corps would begin a journey that would last for decades.”
