Vision, Mission & Values

There is considerable honor in embracing our Core Values, as they are essential in guaranteeing success. Each Core Value listed is a critical element of a successful individual, group, and organization strategy. Our Core Values lead to natural choices, actions, and thoughts. There is spirit and honor in all we do as Devil Pups. Given the pervasiveness of values throughout our attitudes, decisions, and behaviors, we are what we value most. The likelihood of success is increased when we agree on our values, have a sense of purpose, and work towards fulfilling our mission.

VISION

The Devil Pups Vision is to have a powerful, positive impact on the quality of life of young men and women by educating and training them in citizenship and recognizing their ethical responsibilities as they grow into adulthood.

MISSION

The Devil Pups Mission is to grow through mental and physical challenges, develop strength of character, and educate and assist young boys and girls of all social and economic backgrounds in learning self-confidence and responsibility for their actions.

We strive to develop in young men and women, ages 14-17, qualities of good citizenship, self-control, confidence, a sense of personal discipline, teamwork, and respect for others, their family, and their country.

Devil Pups accomplishes this Mission by:

    • Delivering innovative and interactive educational programs that are behaviorally oriented and tailored to boys and girls ages 14-17
    • Helping to challenge and develop the young teenager’s mind concerning the tremendous potential in life
    • Initiating and shaping public policy towards expectations and abilities of young teenage boys and girls
    • Representing and reaching the full diversity of our communities
    • Establishing the standard of excellence in a short-term citizenship program for youth
    • Ensuring the continued financial health of the organization to fund and fulfill our goals and objectives of the program.

VALUES

Teamwork

Teamwork means individuals are working enthusiastically together for a common goal. Teamwork requires respecting others’ contributions, sharing the credit, and subordinating personal goals to the group goals for the team’s success. Very few complex, essential tasks can be accomplished independently.

Leadership

Leadership is a process of influencing and maximizing the efforts of others to achieve a common goal more effectively. Leaders show others the positive way forward by being clear of purpose, maintaining standards, and demonstrating a personal sense of accountability to achieve a goal and influence others to act and perform positively.

Respect for Others

Showing respect for others begins with doing unto others as you would have done for yourself. In Devil Pups, the Golden Rule is demonstrated by humility, the adoption of a servant mentality, and high regard for the well-being of other Devil Pups. A humility of servitude and respect for others with a sense of enthusiastic warmth and high valuation characterizes a Devil Pup.

Loyalty

Loyalty is devotion and faithfulness to a higher cause. The expression of loyalty takes many forms. It is manifested as loyalty to a person, a program, a concept, an organization, country, and ultimately our God. Loyalty takes many forms and shows itself in many ways. Loyalty can be to a person, a program, an object, or a concept and includes actions and behaviors. Devil Pups clarifies that among the highest forms of loyalty is intervening to prevent inappropriate actions or behaviors. Persons of character do not permit their associates to do foolish things or misbehave.

Character

Character is the total of distinctive personality traits that define an individual’s actions. It is a product of many internal ingredients that ultimately influence our  physical actions, personal behaviors, and internal thought processes. Character is internally authentic and defines how we apply our moral values to the actions we  take in our everyday lives.

Self-discipline

Self-discipline is maintaining control over one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, even in the face of temptation and impulse to take unwarranted action. It concentrates on doing the small things well, applying our mental and moral values in our daily lives, and never sacrificing principles for expediency.

Integrity

Integrity is acting strictly according to one’s values, beliefs, and principles. It is adhering to a code of personal conduct with upright character, trustworthiness, and incorruptibility. It is a combined product of honesty, honor, and commitment to do what is right, whether or not anyone is paying attention. A person with integrity does what they say they will do.

Courage

Courage is a matter of choice to act deliberately, regardless of personal suffering. It requires firmness of mind, fortitude, and resilience. Courage is demonstrated physically and by having the strength of character to persevere in the face of danger, fear, or incredible difficulty.

PRINCIPLE #5 – We balance our program’s needs with the ever-changing military and political environment as well as our community support.

PRINCIPLE #6 – Our attention is always focused on providing quality graduates who excel in their life choices with emphasis on a patriotic theme and a strong sense of community and country.

PRINCIPLE #7 – We recognize the need to maintain our relevancy with a strong and functional foundation of board and advisory members that is reflective of our communities and takes an active role in all we do.

PRINCIPLE #8 – Our focus is on serving the needs of today’s youth with a program that emphasizes growth through challenge, motivates and instills values for tomorrow’s graduates.

PRINCIPLE #9 – We recognize all of our stakeholders have a unique view of our program and work to inform, educate and promote our brand to address a variety of needs.
