My name is Savaii P. Amitoelau, I am retired US Army, Scout Recon for over 21 years of military service. I am the Devil Pups LR for Bellflower/Orange County/Santa Ana. I been with the Devil Pups program for over 26 years. I became a part of the Devil Pups program when I taught at Bellflower High School, JROTC, I saw what the Devil Pups program can do to motivate young people to become better citizen through growth and challenge. I put my JROTC cadets’ leadership in the Devil Pups program to learn how to follow instruction, and leadership trades to better themself by motivating our JROTC kids. The Devil Pups program is the best program for kids between 14 to 17 years old to challenge and motivate themself to become a better citizen. The Devil Pups program is not made for any kids to sign up for the military service, your own “Free Will”, and choice to sign up. The Devil Pups program is no Joke. I am now an LAPD Reserve Officer as I am not done with serving the public. I have worked with the following programs during my tenure with the LAPD: Jeopardy, Juvenile Devision, Explores/Cadets, Police Academy Magnet Program, Police Orientation Preparation Program, Pyle’s Boys Camp and Student’s Run Los Angeles (SRLA). Alfonso Velasco served the United States Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005 where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton California, and Camp Hansen in Okinawa, Japan. During 2004 he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom.

Hi,
I’m a mom of 4 and grandma to 3 active grandkids. In 2018 my youngest son participated in the Devil Pup program. I started volunteering locally, assisting in a support role providing water, rides and a lot of encouragement and other needed task to all the participants and the Southern Nevada Liaison. In 2019 & 2021 my son went back to the encampment as an Eagle and I continued to volunteer.
In 2022 I officially became a M.O.M. as that same young man that participated in the Devil Pups became a United States Marine.
It has been a journey to say the least but a very rewarding one. Getting to be a small part of shaping the lives of the future leaders is a true blessing.
I have seen first hand the leaders this program develops and I am very honored to a Southern Nevada Liaison along side my dearest friend Kathy Chavez.
